Default How about a Call to Action Sticky

How about a sticky in this section with links to grass root programs and organizations to get involved with. There have been several posted in recent threads but are all scattered out and hard to find. Lets make it easier for our members, new and old, to quickly find these organizations and perhaps remind us that if we have time to complain on an open forum, we have time to help support our cause.

We can also include well written essays (or links to) against gun control. May need to be a separate thread, so as not to clutter up.

I need to do more myself to help ensure that are rights are not infringed upon.

Here are a couple to start off with and will hopefully spur on some of us that have been idle way too long.

Default Writing all of your Federal lawmakers at one time

This link should take you to a place on Congress.org where you can write all of your specific federal lawmakers at one time, with one letter. You just type it up once and choose whether you want it sent via email or via an actual letter. If you choose the letter option it will make you a perfectly formatted letter for each senator, representative and POTUS as applicable. Then you just have to print and mail them.

How about each contact your local sheriffs and get a public pledge that they ll honor their oaths. Or collect signatures in your county attached to something like the following....

Dear KY Sheriff,

As the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in (what ever county you serve), your oath of office is to preserve, protect and defend the local, state, and/or federal Constitution. We would like to know if you will honor your oath by refusing to enforce Federal rules, regulations and directives that violate the Constitution of the United States.

As you are aware, the federal government is considering ways to attack the right to bear arms, in particular, the "shall not be infringed" clause of the Second Amendment. This would suppress the rights of law abiding citizens to own guns and protect their person and families. It is fact that in areas where the strictest gun control measures are implemented, crime and gun-related deaths rise and your job is made even more difficult.

As the electorate, the people of these KY counties are your employer and we expect you to represent our Constitutional rights in the face of an overreaching federal government. We would like to know if you are given an order that violates the Constitution, will you honor your oath or will you do as directed by the President of the United States.

Sincerely,
for the people of the state of Kentucky

Here's my call to action. A letter sent to President Barak Obama.:

I keep hearing the phrase “why do you need that”, obviously referring to so-called “assault weapons”. I have a real problem with people referring to something by a name, phrase or words that are do not honestly describe something.
But the reason for this letter is for me to ask you in Washington is “why do YOU need that”?

Why do you feel the need to blame law abiding gun owners for the crime that plagues our nation?
Why do you need to allow illegal aliens to have “a path to citizenship” when they have clearly broken the law by coming here illegally?
Why do you need to allow The Attorney General to remain in office when he clearly broke the law when he allowed “Assault Weapons” to fall into the hands of criminals in a foreign country?
Why do you need to unfairly tax the people & corporations that would provide jobs for the people in this nation?
Why do you need to take my hard earned money & give it to people who believe that the taxpayers owe them something?
Why do you need to give money to other nations who clearly hate us & would gladly see America wiped from the face of this world?
Why do you choose to arm an enemy of our only ally in the Middle East instead of arming the ally?
Why did you need to force a healthcare plan on us when NO ONE in Congress knew what was written in it but in the long run MAY only benefit a very few while the majority has to pay the bill thru higher taxes?
As for what I need: I need to keep what I have earned thru my sweat & toil, not have it taken away & given to someone who has not earned it.
I need to provide for, protect & defend my family. And as long as I don’t infringe on others & live within the laws, how I do that is not your concern.
And to ask me if I “need” something that someone has decided is bad for me is beneath contempt. Who are YOU to decide what I need? Who are YOU to decide what I WANT? Who are YOU to decide what I spend MY money on?
I AM AN AMERICAN CITIZEN. I HAVE BROKEN NO LAWS. I PAY MY TAXES, EVEN THOUGH I DISAGREE WITH THEM. I DO NOT ANSWER TO THE PEOPLE THAT ARE ELECTED TO REPRESENT ME. THOSE PEOPLE WORK FOR ME & MUST ANSWER TO ME.

Please contact those that represent YOU & tell them what to think. After all, THEY DO WORK FOR US.

Been doing a bit of research on whether the sheriff's in Kentucky will stand with it's citizens or the grabbers. Here's what I have found so far. The list is small but still a work in progress:

http://www.datehookup.com/Thread-1094384.htm

This was copied from the Trigg County Sheriff's Office: Many folks are asking me what would TCSO do if: Hypothetically the Federal Government came to take our guns away or ordered TCSO to take them. Would we follow the law? First I don't think that will happen. But to answer the hypothetical question, NO, As long as I am Sheriff TCSO will not go door to door taking folks guns away nor would we assist any agency in doing so. I would deputize the whole County before I would ever go door to door taking folks guns away. I would advise every Trigg County Citizen to post no trespassing signs on their property and I would strictly enforce KRS 511.070 Criminal Trespass in the second degree and arrest anyone who violated it.

More info to follow as I get it.
