Default M&P Shield vs Glock 26/27

Sold some stuff I had laying around and decided it was time for a new gun. I went through the collection and decided I'd like to get a new carry gun. I got a smith 442 and a LCP so I don't need anything super small but i want somethin I can carry easy.
Here's my dilemma, I've picked up both at shops and both felt fantastic. I carry a G19 in the winter and have a lot of mags laying around so the G26 was looking like the best candidate. However I recently picked up my first M&P and am very happy with the platform. The new shield has got a lot of positive feedback and is priced very reasonable. I think I would end up happy either way but I figured I would ask and see if you all had any input?

All things equal I would say go M&P. However, since you already have a significant investment in the Glock platform that is what I would go with.

I'm a big fan of the M&P. I think the quality and reliability is the same. The M&P just feels and looks better to me & I shoot better with it.

I'm going to go play with them some more today, I really like the M&Ps now, just hate seeing 15+ Glock 9mm mags laying around I could be using.

I haven't seen any thing bad in any review except for the issue with the extended magazine, the little grip extension comes loose some times.

I think I am gonna get one when I get the cash and can find one This guy did a good review, I have Pm'ed him a few times on the youtubez and he has actually responded and helped.

Default M&P Shield vs Glock 26/27

I prefer the M&P 9c over the Shield, like the feel and the way it shoots.

I say Glock just for the mag compatibility. But the M&P is thinner so it would make a better pocket gun if that is what you are looking for. I used to pocket carry my 27, but it's a bit on the beefy side for that.

Default Shield 9mm

I bought two MP Shield 9mm yesterday at Bud's in Lex. You will only be able to use as a pocket gun in large pocket (cargos or cargo short type) pants. Will be great in coat pocket or IWB carry, which is what I bought mine for. The ladies will like the Shield for handbag or IWB carry.

Remember that the Shield does have an external thumb safety. Some hate the safety but I prefer the thing as I may keep one concealed in my vehicle and have a four year old. Doubt he would ever find the gun and I don't leave him unattended but I do feel better about having the option to leave the safety on. Not a bad idea if you find a way to pocket carry.

The DeSantis Nemesis for the Glock 27 fits the Shield pretty well. I know this is a pocket holster but it will also suffice for vehicle console storage or handbag carry for the wife.

I ended up getting a Glock 26 and love it, however my girlfriend is about to get her carry permit and I've got her pretty set on getting a shield. Maybe I'll get to shoot it a little :)

I think they are in 2 different catagories myself. The G26 with a double stack magazine and able to accept the 15, 17 and 33 round magazines. The Shield being a single stack and lower capacity would be more of a carry gun for a non permissive type environment. It would maybe and only maybe conceal better IWB but I think the G26 carries better on the ankle. I shot the shield quite a bit before I got my Kahr and I finally went with the Kahr. The shield is a really nice gun though for a certain job. But I would not want it as a primary carry piece on a daily basis. My Kahr does not serve that responsibility either, just at work.

I have both an MP40c and full size MP9. Have not tried the shield but very happy with the M&P platform. As for the glock, have a G22 and like it although not to happy with the angle of the grip.

So my thoughts is to go with the M&P as you have Glocks but no MP. Of course I say this as I'm a accumulator of guns (It's my crack).

IMHO those baby 9mms are just to big to pocket carry but just right for iwb as compared to a full size. If I all ready had a good carry package for the Glock 26 I would stay with it. The shield is a hell of a good system by the way and if you got the extra cash go for it. However to me a Glock 26 in the hand with an extra 17rd mag in the left pocket and a 33rd mag in the glove box is a bunch of bang bang.

Have both a MP40C and Glock 22. Both are complete different guns and IMHO, go with M&P Series.

I myself will start to get the full size 9, 40 and 45, once I get the wife to understand my gun accumulation disease...............................
